PUBLIC ALERT ON FRAUDSTERS
It has come to the attention of the Kenya Anti-Corruption Commission that there are individuals impersonating KACC Investigating Officers. These fraudsters are enriching themselves by extorting money from unsuspecting citizens claiming that they are KACC Officials and that they can assist in stopping investigations and/or prosecution of cases.
Section 34 of the Anti-Corruption and Economic Crimes Act states that:
(1)No person other than an investigator shall represent himself to be or act as an investigator.
(2) A person who contravenes this section is guilty of an offence and is liable on conviction to a fine not exceeding three hundred thousand shillings or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding three years or to both.
We would like to inform the public that all KACC officers have Staff Identification Cards and Investigator Identification Cards, which they must produce on request and for identification.
Members of the public are therefore cautioned to be on the lookout for such individuals. Verify the identity of the persons immediately at the Commission on the following numbers; 0726608025 or 0727 285663 or 0733 520641 or +254-2-2717468 or email: firstname.lastname@example.org or in person at Integrity Centre located on Milimani/Valley Road.
