US AMBASSADOR PAYS COURTESY CALL TO EACC
The US Ambassador to Kenya, His Excellency, Ambassador Bob Godec, paid a courtesy call on the Chairperson of the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission, His Grace (Rtd) Archbishop Eliud Wabukala on 3rd February 2017.
Ambassador Godec congratulated Archbishop Wabukala on his recent appointment as the EACC Chairperson. Archbishop Wabukala, and the senior management team of EACC held discussions with the US Ambassador which centred on the progress made in the fight against corruption and possible partnerships.
Ambassador Godec lauded EACC, s work adding that notable achievements have been made in the fight against corruption. He however added that more efforts are needed to combat the vice which he termed as a huge challenge to Kenya. The Ambassador pledged the US government continued support in the fight against corruption in Kenya.
The Commission on its part stressed the importance for a strengthened continued partnership between EACC and the US Government. The Chief Executive Officer of the Commission, Mr. Halakhe Waqo thanked the US government for the support offered to the Commission over the years.
The CEO underscored the need to continue with the cooperation which has helped the Commission in various technical areas particularly training of investigators and legal officers.
The discussions further centred on wide-ranging issues of mutual interest to the EACC and the US Government, underpinned by areas of possible partnership.Posted on Friday, February 03, 2017
