22:09:2025: The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has hosted the Commission on Human Rights in South Sudan (CHRSS) for a courtesy visit aimed at strengthening cross-border collaboration in the fight against corruption and the protection of human rights.

The September 17 visit took place at the EACC Headquarters – Integrity Centre, Nairobi. The CHRSS delegation was led by Chairperson Ms. Yasmin Sooka and was received by EACC Chairperson Dr. David Oginde (as seen in the photo above), alongside Commissioners and members of the Executive Management.

CHRSS, established by the United Nations Human Rights Council, is mandated to investigate and report on human rights violations in South Sudan, with the goal of ending impunity and fostering accountability.

During the meeting, CHRSS presented findings from a recent report examining the status, challenges, and opportunities for strengthening economic rights as a foundation for sustainable peace in South Sudan. The report also drew useful parallels with the Kenyan context, particularly in advancing socio-economic justice.

The two Commissions explored the growing nexus between economic crimes and human rights violations, particularly focusing on illicit financial flows and the transnational nature of corruption. The session also identified potential areas for partnership, collaboration, and exchange of information to enhance accountability mechanisms across borders.
