EACC strengthens stakeholder collaboration with Nigeria

05:11:1025: The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has hosted a high-level delegation from Nigeria’s Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) for a benchmarking visit aimed at strengthening cooperation in the fight against corruption across Africa.

The visit, held on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, brought together senior officials from both commissions at Integrity Centre, Nairobi. The Nigerian delegation, led by ICPC Chairperson Dr. Musa Adamu Aliyu, was received by EACC officials in a meeting chaired by Vice-Chairperson Dr. Monica Muiru, who provided an overview of the Commission’s mandate, achievements, and ongoing initiatives.

In his opening remarks, EACC Chief Executive Officer Mr. Abdi Mohamud commended the collaboration, describing it as a valuable platform for mutual learning and exchange of ideas between the two nations.

“This visit presents an opportunity for Kenya and Nigeria to share experiences, learn from each other, and address the common challenges we face in combating corruption,” said Mr. Mohamud.

He also highlighted key strategies the Commission has implemented to promote transparency, accountability, and integrity within public institutions.

Dr. Aliyu emphasized the importance of cross-border cooperation in addressing corruption, noting that Africa’s progress depends on strong partnerships between anti-graft agencies.

“The fight against corruption cannot be won in isolation. Collaboration and knowledge sharing among African institutions are vital for building a future anchored on integrity and good governance,” he said.

During their visit, the ICPC delegation is expected to engage with key institutions, including the National Assembly, the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP), and the Anti-Corruption and Economic Crimes Division of the High Court.

The EACC reaffirmed its commitment to fostering regional and international partnerships that strengthen integrity systems and enhance accountability in public service.
