Kenya, Australia strengthen strategic partnership on governance and anti-corruption
04:03:2026: The Chairperson of the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) today met with Australian High Commissioner to Kenya, Jenny Da Rin, in Nairobi to advance bilateral cooperation on governance, integrity, and institutional accountability.
The strategic engagement, held at the Australian High Commission offices, focused on strengthening collaboration in the prevention of corruption, enhancement of public sector accountability and promotion of public trust in institutions.
The discussions reaffirmed the strong and longstanding relations between Kenya and Australia, grounded in shared democratic values and respect for the rule of law. Both parties underscored the importance of building resilient governance systems capable of preventing corruption while promoting ethical leadership and institutional independence.
During the meeting, the Commission highlighted significant progress made in combating corruption, reflecting enhanced oversight and accountability across the public sector. It was emphasized that sustainable anti-corruption efforts rely not only on robust legal frameworks and enforcement agencies, but also on strong ethics systems and sustained citizen confidence.

Key areas identified for collaboration include knowledge sharing on investigative techniques, exchange programmes, addressing cross-border financial flows and strengthening information-sharing mechanisms. Codes of Conduct, effective ethics enforcement structures and civic engagement were cited as critical pillars for sustaining high levels of public confidence in public institutions.
The Commission reaffirmed its commitment to strategic partnerships that advance transparency, accountability and inclusive governance, noting that combining institutional expertise with knowledge exchange and youth engagement initiatives presents significant potential for delivering meaningful and lasting outcomes.
