New judges commit to leadership and integrity code
10:05:2026: Newly appointed judges of the High Court of Kenya and the Environment and Land Court have signed the Leadership and Integrity Code, affirming their commitment to integrity, accountability, transparency, professionalism, and efficient service in the Judiciary.
The signing ceremony, witnessed by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission on May 8, 2026, was held during an induction programme at Safari Park Hotel. The exercise is a requirement under the Leadership and Integrity Act for all newly elected, nominated, and appointed State officers.

Speaking during the ceremony, EACC Deputy Director of Ethics Development and Monitoring, David Kaboro, guided the judges through the provisions of the Leadership and Integrity Code and urged them to uphold the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution.
He emphasized that leadership is a public trust that must be exercised in a manner that demonstrates respect for the people and brings honour and dignity to public office.

Mr. Kaboro reminded the judges that, as State officers, they are entrusted with the responsibility to serve the people and not to rule over them. He also called on them to uphold the highest standards of integrity and accountability, noting that the nature of judicial work demands unwavering ethical conduct.
“You will preside over cases involving members of the public, and this again requires demonstration of the deepest commitment to the ideals of integrity,” he said.
The EACC reiterated its commitment to continue working closely with the Judiciary in promoting ethics, integrity, and accountability in public service for the benefit of all Kenyans.
