EACC, Catholic Bishops to strengthen partnership in fight against corruption
12:08:2026: The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) and the Kenya Conference of Catholic Bishops (KCCB) have resolved to strengthen their partnership in promoting ethics, integrity and accountability and addressing emerging governance and corruption challenges in Kenya.
The commitment was made today during a consultative meeting between the EACC leadership and a KCCB delegation led by Mr. Samwel Omondi, National Director, Caritas Kenya, who represented the KCCB General Secretary, Very Rev. Fr. James Waweru. The delegation also included Mr. Dennson Machuki, Communication Strategist at the Loyola Centre for Media and Communications.
The two institutions explored practical and sustainable areas of collaboration, including initiatives to promote ethical leadership, strengthen accountability and mobilise communities to reject corruption and unethical practices.
Speaking during the meeting, EACC Vice Chairperson Dr. Monica Muiru said corruption remains a major impediment to Kenya’s social, economic and political development and requires a whole-of-society approach to address.
Dr. Muiru underscored the important role of faith-based organisations in shaping values, influencing behaviour and mobilising communities to promote integrity and reject corruption.
EACC Chief Executive Officer Mr. Abdi Mohamud reaffirmed the Commission’s commitment to strengthening institutional partnerships with the religious sector, noting that KCCB’s extensive grassroots presence provides a strategic platform for advancing integrity, responsible leadership and public accountability.
He expressed confidence that the engagement would lay the foundation for a structured and results-oriented partnership with measurable impact.
Mr. Omondi reaffirmed KCCB’s commitment to collaborating with the Commission in advancing ethics, integrity and anti-corruption initiatives. He noted that the KCCB’s extensive communication network offers a valuable platform for disseminating integrity messages and supporting the objectives of the partnership.
The engagement is part of EACC’s broader strategy to deepen collaboration with faith-based organisations in promoting good governance, preventing corruption and fostering a culture of integrity across the country.
