08:10:2026: Leaders have been challenged to champion integrity, strengthen accountability and lead by example to promote good governance, peace and prosperity in the country.
The call came during the third Senior Leaders’ Breakfast Meeting, held in Nairobi on Tuesday and convened by the International Leadership University (ILU) in partnership with the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC).

Under the theme “Leading with Integrity in Challenging Times: A Path to Peace and Prosperity,” the meeting provided a platform for senior leaders to reflect on ethical leadership, responsible decision-making and the role of integrity in addressing the country’s challenges.
Emphasising the need to foster ethical conduct, EACC Chairperson Dr. David Oginde said creating an environment that enables people to do the right thing was essential to promoting integrity. He noted that the responsibility for nurturing ethical values extended beyond the Commission and called for collaboration among institutions and leaders.

Drawing on experiences from Kenya and the United States, former Pennsylvania elected representative Hon. Jeff Coleman urged leaders to take a firm stand against corruption and demonstrate their commitment to integrity through their actions.
For ILU Chancellor Prof. Kivutha Kibwana, ethical leadership also requires humility and a willingness to learn. He encouraged leaders to draw lessons from younger generations, lead by example and refrain from using places of worship as platforms for political campaigns.

Reinforcing the importance of personal integrity, EACC Commissioner Dr. Cecilia Mutuku, who also serves as Vice Chairperson of the ILU University Council, urged leaders to choose integrity even when faced with difficult decisions. She called for stronger systems to prevent, detect and respond to unethical conduct, while emphasising the need to recognise people of integrity and protect whistleblowers.

Meanwhile, CEO, Mr. Abdi Mohamud challenged leaders to earn public trust through exemplary conduct. He also urged Kenyans to elect leaders committed to protecting public resources and ensuring accountability in their use.
The meeting brought together institutional chairpersons and chief executive officers, academic leaders, High Court judges, EACC Commissioners and other senior leaders.
