Ambassador Valerie Rugene, Deputy Head of Mission at the Embassy and Permanent Mission of the Republic of Kenya in Vienna, Austria, and EACC Chairperson Dr. David Oginde deliver Kenya’s country statement during the Second Resumed Seventeenth Session of the UNCAC Implementation Review Group in Vienna, Austria.
6:11:2026: States Parties to the United Nations Convention against Corruption (UNCAC) have adopted documents to guide country reviews under the Convention’s second Implementation Review Mechanism cycle, scheduled to commence in 2027.
The documents were adopted during a Special Session of the Conference of States Parties to UNCAC on 6 November 2026, following the Second Resumed Seventeenth Session of the Implementation Review Group (IRG), held in Vienna, Austria, from 2 to 6 November 2026. The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) participated in the meetings as part of the Kenyan delegation.
The delegation was led by EACC Chairperson Dr. David Oginde and included Assistant Director Ms. Emily Ibeere, alongside representatives from the Office of the Attorney General and State Department for Justice, Human Rights and Constitutional Affairs, the National Assembly, the Financial Reporting Centre and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

During the session, Kenya delivered statements on three key areas of the Convention: Asset Recovery, International Cooperation and Technical Assistance. The interventions highlighted the country’s efforts to strengthen international collaboration, recover proceeds of corruption and promote technical support and capacity-building.
The session provided a platform for States Parties to exchange experiences, share good practices and discuss challenges in implementing the Convention. It also provided an opportunity to strengthen international cooperation in addressing the increasingly complex and transnational nature of corruption.
Through its participation, EACC reaffirmed Kenya’s commitment to UNCAC and the promotion of integrity, accountability, transparency and the rule of law. The Commission continues to engage in international anti-corruption initiatives, including efforts to strengthen cooperation in the recovery of stolen assets.
