EACC concludes Eid ul-Adha Maadili Cup Tournament in Garissa

29:05:2026: The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has successfully concluded the Eid ul-Adha Maadili Cup Tournament in Garissa County, reaffirming its commitment to promoting integrity, peaceful coexistence, and youth empowerment through sports.

The tournament, held from 14 to 27 May 2026 under the Commission’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme, brought together 16 football clubs from across the region. The initiative aimed to foster unity, ethical values, and social cohesion among young people.

The competition culminated in a thrilling final match between Lyon FC and Atlas FC, with Lyon FC emerging victorious to be crowned champions of the tournament.

Speaking during the closing ceremony, EACC Chief Executive Officer, Abdi Mohamud, underscored the role of sports in nurturing integrity, teamwork, moral values, and responsible citizenship among youth. He noted that sports provide an effective platform for instilling ethical leadership and accountability within communities.

The tournament forms part of the Commission’s broader efforts to engage young people in initiatives that promote positive social values, community development, and peaceful coexistence. Through such programmes, EACC continues to leverage sports as a tool for advancing integrity and national cohesion.
