20:08:2026: The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) and the Evangelical Alliance of Kenya (EAK) have partnered to strengthen the fight against corruption by using the Church’s nationwide reach to promote ethics, integrity and accountability.

The partnership was reaffirmed during a high-level consultative meeting yesterday between the two institutions, which agreed to integrate anti-corruption messages into sermons, Bible teachings, conferences, youth programmes and community outreach initiatives.

The collaboration will also focus on integrity education in churches, mentoring young people as integrity champions, equipping religious leaders to promote ethical conduct and facilitating community dialogue on accountability and prudent management of public resources.

EACC Chairperson Dr David Oginde said corruption remains one of Kenya’s biggest development challenges, undermining public institutions, deepening inequality and diverting resources meant for essential services.

He said law enforcement alone cannot win the fight against corruption and called for greater involvement of faith-based organizations, which enjoy widespread public trust and have extensive grassroots networks.

“The Church occupies a unique position in society through its congregations, schools, hospitals and community outreach programmes,” Dr Oginde said, describing its moral influence as critical to nurturing a culture of integrity and accountability.

EAK Chairperson Bishop Dr Calisto Odede welcomed the partnership, saying integrity is both a moral obligation and a societal responsibility.

He said the Alliance’s nationwide network of churches provides an effective platform for sustaining integrity messages at both national and grassroots levels, and affirmed EAK’s readiness to work with EACC to promote ethical leadership, transparency and accountability.

The partnership brings together EACC’s statutory anti-corruption mandate and the Church’s moral influence and community networks, with the institutions seeking to encourage behavioural change and greater citizen participation in protecting public resources.
