08:12:2025: The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC), through its South Nyanza Regional Office, has trained the Migori Law Courts Integrity Committee as part of a nationwide effort to strengthen integrity and accountability within the judiciary.
The December 5 session was presided over by Hon. Lady Justice Anne C. Ong’injo, who praised the ongoing collaboration between the Judiciary and the Commission. She emphasized that integrity is both a legal requirement and a personal responsibility for all State and Public Officers.
EACC was represented by Mr. John Agar, Deputy Regional Manager for South Nyanza, who led the training. Key Judiciary and security officials attended, including the Head of Station, Hon. Naomi Wairimu, Deputy Registrar, Hon. Angela Munyuny, and Migori County Police Commander, Mr. Joel Chebii Kiptum.
Mr. Agar trained the Committee on relevant legal frameworks, ethical standards, and best practices essential in combating corruption within the justice system. He highlighted the importance of institutional controls in ensuring impartial and efficient service delivery.
The establishment of Integrity Committees in all Law Courts was initiated by the Chief Justice and President of the Supreme Court, Lady Justice Martha Karambu Koome, who directed courts to operationalize these committees. EACC was mandated to spearhead their training and provide ongoing guidance.
Integrity Committees are expected to monitor and address unethical conduct, promote accountability, and lead by example within their respective court stations.
EACC reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with the Judiciary as a critical partner in building an ethical, transparent, and values-driven Kenyan society.
