EACC, UNODC reaffirm partnership to strengthen accountability
06:03:2026: The Secretary/CEO of the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission, Mr. Abdi A. Mohamud, today hosted UNODC Regional Representative for Eastern Africa, Mr. Ali Elbereir, Deputy Regional Representative, Mr. Koen Marquering, and Ms. Asmert Tesfai, PLEAD II Program Manager, for a courtesy meeting at Integrity Centre.
The engagement reaffirmed the longstanding partnership between EACC and UNODC spanning over two decades since Kenya ratified the United Nations Convention against Corruption (UNCAC) in 2003. Discussions focused on strengthening collaboration in combating corruption, asset tracing and recovery, complex financial investigations, and corruption prevention initiatives.

The Commission appreciated UNODC’s continued support, especially through the EU-funded PLEAD II Programme, the Anti-Corruption Hub for Africa, and the GlobE Network, which enhance international cooperation in the fight against corruption.
Through PLEAD II, the Commission has received support aimed at strengthening institutional capacity, enhancing inter-agency collaboration, and advancing the fight against corruption in Kenya.
EACC reaffirmed its commitment to working with UNODC and other development partners to advance integrity, transparency, and accountability in Kenya and the region.
