Speaking on recently at a Data Protection Workshop held in Naivasha for Data Centre staff, Mr. Abdi Mohamud emphasized the need for forward-thinking approaches, particularly in addressing the growing backlog of cases.

“Innovation is a necessity. We must think differently, work smarter, and continuously seek better ways to serve the public and fulfill our mandate,” he said.

Participants explored the implications of data protection laws on organizational operations and discussed practical strategies for compliance. The CEO underscored that innovation must go hand-in-hand with data responsibility, ensuring that as new solutions are developed, they are aligned with legal and ethical standards.

The call for innovation comes at a time when the Commission is facing complex operational demands. With initiatives like these workshops and leadership pushing for creative thinking, staff are well-positioned to drive meaningful change.

Elsewhere on the same day, the CEO joined Governors and other Senior Government Officials at the Kenya Devolution Support Programme II (KDSP II) sensitization conference held in Naivasha.

The high-level engagement brought together key stakeholders to deliberate on strategies to strengthen Devolution and improve service delivery across all 47 counties.

The conference, organized under the World Bank-supported KDSP II initiative, focused on critical reforms in four key areas: County financing, human resource management, institutional performance, and citizen engagement. Discussions centered on the shared goal of delivering better and more accountable services to Kenyan citizens.

KDSP II, backed by USD150 million credit from the World Bank, aims to strengthen county performance in financial management, coordination, and accountability.
