Speaking at the opening of a five-day training on Ethics in Human Resource Management in Mombasa, Commissioner Dr. Cecilia Mutuku emphasized that ethical leadership in HR is critical to strengthening corruption-prevention efforts across both the public and private sectors.

The training, jointly organized by the EACC and the Institute of Human Resource Management (IHRM), is being held from 13th to 17th April 2026 in Mombasa. It aims to enhance the mainstreaming of corruption prevention strategies and promote integrity in human resource management practices.

Dr. Mutuku noted that continuous professional development is essential in equipping HR practitioners with the knowledge, skills, and competencies required to navigate ethical dilemmas and uphold the rule of law in workplace processes. She underscored the need for HR professionals to act as custodians of ethical standards and to nurture a culture of integrity within their institutions.

Also present at the opening ceremony was Quresha Abdullahi, Executive Director of IHRM, who reiterated the institute’s commitment to strengthening ethical capacity among its members. She highlighted the importance of structured training programmes in building resilience against unethical practices in HR functions.

Representing the Chief Executive Officer of EACC, Vincent Okongo, Director for Preventive Services, echoed the call for integrity and accountability. He emphasized that ethical HR practices are fundamental to institutional credibility and effective service delivery.

The training has brought together HR practitioners from various sectors, providing a platform to share experiences, explore ethical challenges, and adopt practical frameworks for decision-making in complex situations. Facilitated by experts from both EACC and IHRM, the sessions combine interactive approaches, case studies, and group discussions to enhance practical learning and engagement.

Participants have lauded the programme for its relevance and hands-on approach, describing it as both insightful and transformative.
