Integrity training targets improved service delivery in Kisumu County
EACC Western Regional Manager Abraham Kemboi addresses participants during an integrity and anti-corruption training for Kisumu County officials
19:05:2026: More than 20 officials from the Kisumu County Government are undergoing integrity and anti-corruption training organized by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC).
The four-day programme, running from May 18 to 21, has brought together senior public officers and Integrity Assurance Officers (IAOs) from various county departments. The training aims to strengthen corruption prevention measures, ethical leadership, accountability, and good governance in public service. It is being conducted simultaneously in Kisumu, Machakos, and Kakamega.
Speaking during the opening ceremony, EACC Western Regional Manager Abraham Kemboi said integrity and accountability are essential to improving service delivery within devolved units.
Mr. Kemboi said the programme, implemented through a partnership between the EACC and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, is equipping public officers with practical skills to combat corruption, strengthen compliance with integrity laws, and restore public confidence in government institutions.
“Corruption and unethical conduct continue to undermine public trust, weaken institutions, and divert resources meant for development and public service delivery,” he said.
Kisumu County Secretary Hesbon Hongo said the training comes at a time when citizens are increasingly demanding efficient, transparent, and accountable service delivery from public institutions. He expressed confidence that participants would gain the knowledge and skills needed to promote integrity and drive positive change within their departments.

The programme is being implemented through the Kenya Ethics and Anti-Corruption Academy with support from the Programme for Legal Empowerment and Aid Delivery, a partnership involving the Government of Kenya, the European Union, and the United Nations aimed at supporting justice sector reforms and promoting transparency, accountability, and access to justice in Kenya.
