Isiolo gets modern anti-corruption interview facility through EACC-FBI partnership

07:08:2026: The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has opened a modern interview facility at its Upper Eastern Regional Office in Isiolo, a move aimed at strengthening investigations into corruption and economic crimes through its longstanding partnership with the United States Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
The facility was officially launched on Friday and is equipped with modern recording and documentation systems designed to improve the quality, efficiency and integrity of investigative interviews. It will support investigations across Isiolo, Meru and Marsabit counties while providing a secure environment for investigators, witnesses and persons of interest.
Speaking on behalf of EACC Chief Executive Officer Mr. Abdi Mohamud during the launch, Director of Investigations Mr. John Lolkoloi said the EACC-FBI partnership has enhanced the Commission’s investigative capacity through specialized training, technical support, modern investigative tools and intelligence sharing.
The Director said the new facility was designed to support professional investigative interviews in line with international best practices while safeguarding the rights of investigators, witnesses and persons of interest.
He said corruption, money laundering and illicit financial flows are increasingly transnational, making international cooperation critical to effective investigations. He added that the Commission would continue working with the FBI to strengthen investigative capacity, expand expertise in artificial intelligence and digital forensics, improve asset recovery, and enhance intelligence sharing.
FBI representative Andreas Aguirre said combating corruption requires strong partnerships and close collaboration among law enforcement agencies.
He commended the EACC leadership for maintaining what he described as a longstanding partnership that has strengthened both institutions’ ability to investigate complex corruption and financial crime cases.
The launch was attended by FBI representative Samuel Newlin-Haus, EACC-FBI Liaison Officer Mulki Umar, Upper Eastern Regional Deputy Manager Dr. Agosta Mecca, Central Regional Deputy Manager Grace Omweri and other EACC officials.
The facility is expected to enhance investigative interviews and support investigations into corruption and economic crime across Isiolo, Meru and Marsabit counties.
