Kirinyaga University to host KLIF “Campus Edition” ahead of International Anti-Corruption Day 2025

The Kenya Leadership Integrity Forum (KLIF) on Tuesday paid a courtesy visit to Kirinyaga University in a bid to foster collaboration ahead of this year’s International Anti-Corruption Day.
The delegation, led by Commissioner of the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC), Col. (Rtd) Alfred Mshimba, met with university officials to discuss partnership opportunities, particularly in mobilizing youth against corruption.
This year’s International Anti-Corruption Day, commemorated annually on December 9, will be marked under the theme: Uniting with the Youth against Corruption: Shaping Tomorrow’s Integrity. As part of the build-up to the national commemoration, KLIF is spearheading youth-focused engagements in institutions of higher learning, dubbed “Campus Editions.”
The proposed main Campus Edition event is scheduled to take place at Kirinyaga University on Tuesday, November 18, 2025. It will include interactive sessions with students, student leaders, and youth from the surrounding community, aimed at raising awareness and empowering young people to lead the fight against corruption.

Speaking during the courtesy call, Commissioner Mshimba said the visit presented an opportunity to formally engage with the university in preparation for the upcoming event.
“This courtesy visit accords us an opportunity to formally engage with your institution in preparation for the upcoming main Campus Edition. The interactive session with students, their leaders, and youth from the community will form part of the build-up activities for International Anti-Corruption Day,” he stated.
He also commended the university for its commitment to anti-corruption efforts, noting the policies in place to promote accountability and transparency within the institution.
The KLIF delegation included its head, Ms. Joyce Munene, head of the National Integrity Academy, Dr. Josephine Monyi, and other senior officials from the EACC.
Kirinyaga University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Mary Ndung’u was represented by Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Charles Omwandho, who welcomed the KLIF team and expressed the university’s willingness to collaborate in advancing anti-corruption education and youth engagement.
“We are pleased to partner with KLIF and EACC in this noble cause. The university community is committed to playing an active role in promoting integrity among our students and the larger society,” Prof. Omwandho said.
The Campus Edition initiative aims to underscore the impact of corruption on the youth and empower them as agents of change within their institutions and communities.
International Anti-Corruption Day, observed globally on December 9, is an initiative of the United Nations Convention against Corruption (UNCAC) to raise awareness on the dangers of corruption and inspire collective action against it. In Kenya, the EACC leads the national commemoration, bringing together stakeholders from public and private sectors under the KLIF umbrella.
KLIF is a multi-sectoral platform coordinated by the EACC, established to foster a unified and integrated approach to the promotion of ethics and integrity across the country.
