New university partnership targets youth in anti-corruption drive

05:05:2026: The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) is set to partner with Mount Kenya University (MKU) to cultivate a culture of integrity among students and amplify youth participation in the national anti-corruption movement.

The framework for this collaboration was established during a high-level courtesy visit held today at the MKU Main Campus in Thika Town. The EACC delegation, led by Vice Chairperson Dr. Monica Muiru and Commissioner Col. (Rtd) Alfred Mshimba, met with MKU Chairman Prof. Simon Gicharu and Vice Chancellor Prof. Deogratius Jaganyi.

During the discussions, Dr. Muiru emphasized that the partnership provides a critical platform for engaging students on the socio-economic impacts of corruption. She noted that the initiative seeks to instil values of accountability and ethical leadership through structured dialogue and active student participation.

“Our goal is to empower the youth to recognize their role in the fight against corruption and to prepare them for leadership grounded in integrity,” said Dr. Muiru.

MKU Chairman Prof. Gicharu welcomed the initiative and pledged the University’s full institutional support. This was echoed by Vice Chancellor Prof. Jaganyi, who reaffirmed MKU’s commitment to fostering a values-driven environment that contributes to ethical standards in the wider society.

The partnership will officially be launched through the Integrity Campus Edition forum, to be hosted at MKU. Spearheaded by the Kenya Leadership Integrity Forum (KLIF), the programme engages university students through interactive sessions on ethics and moral philosophy, transparent leadership, and public accountability.

MKU joins a growing list of institutions embracing this initiative, following successful previous editions held at Kirinyaga University and Pan Africa Christian University.
